I bought her 2 years ago
next month she came from Sileby mill boat yard in Leicestershire I bought her
from the yard owner john evens her mooring hadn't been paid for a couple of
years and she was claimed by john she had a very bad repair to the transom some
one had put a 2 to 3" square length of wood across the back of the boat to try
and give it some strength this was secured by drilling 3 big holes straight
through the transom and shoving 3 big bolts through the boat when I first
checked it you could rock the 30 hp mariner back and forth a good couple of
inches the transom was that bad , water level out side the boat was approx an 1"
from the top of the transom it was sitting that low in the water every thing
inside was floating about seeing all of this i walked away , i was working in
the yard for approx 12 months welding a wide beam canal boat and kept going
back to Emily until one day I put an offer in to john of £350 and he accepted I
guess I just could not resist I suppose with a 30 hp electric start engine it
was not too much of a gamble , me and an uncle put to work completely cut all
the rot out put all new in and re fibre glassed have not done a lot since last
year as have had a new garage built am hoping to get Emily inside soon so I can
carry on regardless of weather, will post photos as soon as I can get my son to
do some.
Sorry for waffling on but the wife falls a sleep when I speak about bouts cars
or bikes.
In the process of restoring the old
girl transom has been completely cut away and been fully restored lots still to
do though,
